This report covers FreeBSD-related projects between April and June 2011. It is the third of the four reports planned for 2011: FreeBSD Quarterly Status Report (July – September 2011).

This quarter was mainly devoted to polishing the bits for the next major version of FreeBSD, 9.0, which is to be released by then end of this year.

Since this quarter, the work is being focused on the next major version of FreeBSD, 9.0, which is to be released in September.

I’m happy to see the progress that’s been made with Chromium and Clang.

FreeBSD’s quarterly status report for 2011 Q1 is now available. This report covers FreeBSD related projects between January and April 2011. During this quarter, developers focused on releasing FreeBSD 7.4 and 8.2, which were released in February 2011. Currently, the project is starting to work on the next major version, 9.0.

It’s good to see so much activity, projects and contribution to FreeBSD, most of which is done by dedicated volunteers.

Once again, there are some interesting updates which show FreeBSD 9 is shaping up nicely with many features to look forward to. Some of the highlights: ZFS v28, Chromium Port, DIFFUSE, FreeBSD on Amazon EC2, Trim for USF.

FreeBSD’s quarterly status report for 2010 Q1 is now available.

This report covers FreeBSD related projects between January and March 2010. Being the first of the four reports planned for 2010 with 46 entries, it shows a good progress of the FreeBSD Project and proves that our committers are keeping up with the latest trends in the OS development. During this period, a new minor version of FreeBSD, 7.3-RELEASE, has been released, while the release process for 8.1-RELEASE is soon to begin and is planned to be released later this summer.
