FreeBSDnews.net now part of the iXsystems family

Dear FreeBSD News readers,

ixsystems logoiXsystems is proud to announce our recent partnership with Gerard van Essen, the creator of FreeBSDNews.net. As part of our agreement with Gerard, iXsystems will now maintain and host the FreeBSDNews.net site.

iXsystems is a Silicon Valley open source server and storage integrator that champions the cause of Open Source technology. FreeBSD is a cause that is near and dear to our hearts, and we have dedicated extensive resources to several FreeBSD community projects: FreeNAS®, PC-BSD®, FreeBSD®, TrueOS®, and OpenZFS.

Accompanied by Gerard’s continued involvement on the reporting and editorial side, the efforts of the iXsystems team will allow the website to continue to grow and expand its coverage. With the FreeBSD community’s best interests in mind, we hope to continue to deliver high quality content regarding FreeBSD events, project announcements, interviews, and everything in between.

Since iXsystems’ inception, we have been committed to serving the BSD community, and this latest partnership is no exception. We are excited about making your experience with FreeBSDNews.net the best possible, by bringing you the most up to date news on everything FreeBSD.

Introducing the iXsystems MEGAPORT

You may remember the iXsystems MEGACORE, the monster of a server built for the FreeBSD Foundation. Recently an iX client had specific networking requirements for a 2U/4 node solution, so iX came up with a custom build that fit all of their needs.

Meet “MEGAPORT”. To get an idea of how impressive this system is, you have to look at it piece by piece.
